Camotes Island

Two sailings a day leave the Camotes for Ormoc, at 07:00 and 12:30, each timetabled at three hours. Camotes Ferry Services operates both, every day of the week, and there is nothing after half past twelve.

An afternoon departure would be no use here. The Camotes group — Poro, Pacijan and Ponson, joined by a causeway between the first two — sits in the middle of the Camotes Sea with Cebu on one side and Leyte on the other, and the boat is a working link rather than a day-trip shuttle.

The islands were largely bypassed by the Visayas' main shipping lanes and stayed quiet because of it: white sand at Santiago Bay, the freshwater Lake Danao, and caves that were used as shelters during the Japanese occupation. The timetable's shape — early, mid-morning, then done — belongs to a place people leave for the mainland and come back to the same evening.
