This crossing leaves from Skagit County's own dock at 500 I Avenue, in town, whereas the Washington State Ferries terminal for the San Juan Islands lies 4 to 5 miles outside it. The ticket office here takes cards and contactless payment only, never cash. Sales and ticket scanning stop two minutes before each departure, and latecomers are not carried. The county runs the boat first come, first served, with no reservations, and asks drivers to be back in their cars, tickets ready, at least a quarter of an hour before sailing.
