About this crossing

Whidbey's Island Transit buses charge no fare, and during normal service hours they shuttle between the Clinton dock and a Deer Lake Road park-and-ride, free to use, about half a mile north of the terminal off SR 525. Mukilteo collects the passenger fare for both directions, so foot passengers and cyclists owe nothing on this leg and cyclists may ride past the tollbooth; drivers pay one way. On the island, SR 20 turns into SR 525, which leads straight to the terminal. WSF also publishes low-tide warnings for this 2.6-nautical-mile crossing, because on rare days the steeper ramp angle can restrict large vehicles.
