About this crossing

Of the three legs this ferry covers, Port McNeill to Sointula is the shortest, usually 25 to 30 minutes, although the odd sailing goes round by Alert Bay and takes about an hour and a half. The boat berths on the south coast of Malcolm Island, and Sointula's shops, a coffee shop and a fuel station are near the terminal. What the terminal lacks is parking and any public transport, so a car or a lift arranged in advance is the way to reach the rest of the island.
