About this crossing

Of the three main car-ferry crossings between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island, this one takes the longest. Tsawwassen lies at the end of Highway 17 in Delta, south of the Fraser; for drivers already on that side of the region, this route saves crossing the city to reach Horseshoe Bay. BC Ferries also points travellers here when Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay is fully booked. Duke Point itself is south of Nanaimo rather than in the city, which adds a short drive at the far end.
