Pilar

Pilar is the Sorsogon port at the southern tip of Luzon, and its seven sailings between 08:00 and 20:00 run the six-hour crossing to Masbate with Montenegro Shipping Lines. Six hours is a long haul by Philippine inter-island standards, and the boats carry vehicles as well as passengers — this is the road link between Luzon and Masbate island rather than a passenger shuttle. Sorsogon sits at the end of the Pan-Philippine Highway's Luzon section, so traffic arriving here by bus continues by sea. Masbate is cattle country and holds an annual rodeo, and the ferry carries livestock trucks alongside passenger vehicles.
