About this crossing

Every car travelling on or off Orcas, the largest of the San Juan Islands, uses the single state ferry dock at Orcas Village; Eastsound, the main village, is up at the island's north end. WSF recommends a vehicle reservation for any sailing on the Anacortes–San Juan route. Reserved drivers are told to arrive 45 to 60 minutes early and must check in at a tollbooth or with an attendant at least 30 minutes before departure, or lose the space and travel stand-by. WSF says the cut-off exists because loading and unloading at each island is complicated. Our San Juan Islands ferry guide has more on planning the trip.
