About this crossing

BC Ferries' only cable ferry, the Baynes Sound Connector, carries traffic over to Denman on a cable more than 2 km long. Nothing on this crossing can be reserved: cars and walk-on passengers load in the order they turn up. The Buckley Bay terminal stands on the Island Highway at Fanny Bay, about 20 minutes' drive south of Courtenay. Cars cannot be left there, but BC Transit and the Island Link bus both call. Hornby Island travellers use this boat as well, then drive across Denman to Gravelly Bay for the Hornby crossing.
