About this crossing
Vashon has no road link to the mainland: King County describes access as being by Washington State Ferries, from a terminal at the north end connecting to Seattle and the Kitsap Peninsula and another at the south end connecting to Tacoma. This 20-minute crossing to the north end is priced as a round trip, so drivers and foot passengers pay at Fauntleroy and nothing is collected when they leave the island. The West Seattle terminal lies just past Lincoln Park on Fauntleroy Way SW, with little on-street parking and King County Metro buses. Some boats carry on to Southworth, and on those Vashon traffic loads first. Walk-on passengers starting in central Seattle can instead take the King County Water Taxi from Pier 50, which docks at the same Vashon terminal after about 22 minutes.
