About this crossing
The north-end terminal is where Vashon Highway, the island's main road, comes to an end, and it serves both this crossing and the short hop to Southworth. WSF collects Vashon fares only on the way onto the island, at Fauntleroy, Southworth and Point Defiance, so this leg costs nothing for drivers, cyclists or foot passengers. King County Metro buses and park-and-ride sites in Vashon town feed the dock, and there is parking a block uphill. Extreme low tides steepen the Vashon loading ramps: WSF asks drivers of long vehicles, cars with low ground clearance and anything with a long rear overhang to avoid the island's routes at the affected times, which appear as low-tide warnings on its schedule pages.
