This is the long way from Bohol to Cagayan de Oro. Lite Ferries' evening ship from Tagbilaran spends nine hours crossing the Bohol Sea and lands at 04:30 in Cagayan de Oro, on Macajalar Bay in northern Mindanao, so the night is spent on board. The return also runs three evenings a week, leaving Cagayan de Oro at 19:00.
For a shorter crossing, go from Jagna on Bohol's south coast, where Lite Ferries and Cokaliong both sail to Cagayan de Oro.
