About the terminal
One of the four departures from Dumangas goes at one in the morning. The rest leave at 08:00, 12:00 and 17:00; arrivals from Banago run 06:00, 10:00 and 15:00 — four out, three back, all of them 60 minutes over 20 nautical miles with FastCat.
That 01:00 sailing is the clue to what this route is for. Fast craft carry foot passengers between Bacolod and Iloilo City in 75 minutes; Dumangas is the roll-on roll-off crossing, taking trucks and buses between Panay and Negros, and freight is happy to move in the middle of the night.
The port lies about 30 kilometres north-east of Iloilo City, well away from the fast-ferry terminal, and Banago sits north of Bacolod for the same reason: vehicle ferries need space and road access more than they need a city-centre berth. It is the same channel as the fast route, worked for an entirely different kind of traffic.
